The end of February and the beginning of March were marked for the Russian market by a decrease in the cost of pork by about 1.2% compared to the price tag of the end of 2018. Experts attribute the fall in prices for pork meat to the fact that in the wholesale chain the cost of pork half carcasses also falls.
Now at wholesale trading floors this product can be purchased on average for 152 rubles / kilo. In December 2018, half carcasses in the wholesale markets were given at a price higher than the current one by 0.6%. And this is not to mention the fact that in late summer and early fall of 2018, the price of pork meat averaged 189 rubles per kilogram in the wholesale trade. By November, prices fell to 175 rubles per kilo.

It will not be superfluous to note that to date, Russian farmers have managed to bring the country to self-sufficiency in pork. This was achieved thanks to increased production volumes in innovative pig farms and increased competitiveness among producers.
