The Oregon Cattle Herders Association (OCA) urges its members to provide evidence as opposed to the Oregon Senate Bill (978), an Oregon Consolidated Weapons Control Package that requires firearms to remain self-defense and extend the boundaries of weapons-free zones .
- In a message sent to the members of the OCA, he informs that the bill provides:
- An age limit for firearms dealers, allowing them to refuse services to people under 21 years of age.
- The responsibility of the owners of the weapon if the weapon was stolen, but it was not reported and it was used to cause harm to people or property.
- Limiting the availability of weapons for self-defense due to the introduction of uniform universal requirements for the storage of firearms: the requirement to store weapons in a locked container or under a trigger lock device, with the proviso that “locked storage” does not include a building, room or vehicle.
- The requirement for hospitals to provide data on injuries from firearms to the state.
- Empowering local authorities to regulate access to firearms in public buildings.
- Cessation of home production of firearms for legal, personal use.
- Increase the license fee of the "Hidden Pistol."
- Possession of a classic hunting rifle or heirloom without a serial number is considered a serious crime.
The Oregon Cattle Herders Association asks its members to write or call Senator Lee Beyer, Senator Arnie Roblan and Senator Peter Courtney, who oppose the bill.
