The Royal Agricultural Charity Institution (RABI) has released new data showing continued growth in the number of working farmers across the UK seeking financial assistance.
Between January and May of this year, this charity received 437 new requests for help.
Of these requests, 67 percent came from working farmers. About 60 percent of those seeking help in May cited illness, injury, or disability as the cause. Last year, RABI paid over £ 1.4 million in regular grants to financially support retirees, seniors, and people with disabilities.
In order to disseminate information about the help that farm families can receive, a charitable organization participates in a number of campaigns. For example, from July 15-19, RABI will support Farm Safety Week, a national campaign that emphasizes the importance of complying with safety regulations when working on a farm.
Trish Pickford, head of social welfare at the Royal Agricultural Charity, said: “Self-employment and farming, in particular, mean that in the event of poor health or an accident it is often very difficult to cope with both practical and financial point of view. ”
