On the territory of the Republic of Mari El, a massive plague of bees was recorded.

It is noteworthy that the death of insects was noted immediately in five regions of the region - Volzhsky, Kuzhenersky, Sernursky, Medvedevsky and Soviet. Such information was shared by employees of the Republican Veterinary Committee.

Also, the department noted that the first cases of the common plague of bees were recorded in the region at the end of June this year. Since then, representatives of the republican prosecutor’s office have received more than one statement from the staff of the veterinary committee asking them to establish the true causes of the disaster among beekeepers.

As noted by Mari El's concerned veterinarians, the death of bees could have been provoked by farmers who treat their agricultural land with chemical means of protection against spoilage and pests.

At the moment, soil samples from regional fields, as well as dead bees biomaterial, have been sent to one of the research institutions of Kazan for a thorough analysis.

It is important to add that Mari El is not the only Volga republic where bees actively die. A similar fate befell Udmurt apiaries, as well as beekeeping farms in the Republic of Tatarstan.
