This summer in the Odessa region there will be almost no fruit harvest. After a night freeze in the first half of April, you can forget about the apricot harvest. The same situation can happen with peach and cherry, experts say.
In some areas of the Odessa region, the night air temperature dropped to -3 ° C, which was simply disastrous for stone fruit. Low temperatures in the Odessa region pretty spoiled not only the state of fruit trees, but also the vine, as well as winter crops. Citizens of Ukraine will be able to feel the consequences of this on their wallets, experts say.
The most affected areas are those located in lowlands where particularly cold air accumulated. There is definitely no point in waiting for the harvest.Another reason for the future crop failure may be the fact that in cold weather the bees did not leave their hives and did not pollinate flowering trees.
In some regions, gardeners even made bonfires to locally raise air temperature. According to agrarians, only those varieties survived whose flowers did not have time to open until April.
Earlier it was reported that in the Kherson region, cold weather and rains negatively affected the pollination of cherries, which also does not give hope for a good harvest. And in the Zaporizhzhya region because of spring frost, shoots of potatoes froze.
