In the process of holding the Third Fishery Forum, which started in St. Petersburg two days ago, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev announced quite ambitious plans, which the government of the country puts in the priority of the agricultural direction today.

So, according to the minister, today the Russian Federation intends to make every effort to ensure that in the next few years it will gain world leadership in the production and export of food from fish raw materials to the world arena.

In addition, Russia today faces another significant goal - to break into the forwards in the global fishery for water resources, the minister says.

Based on the information that Dmitry Patrushev shared with the public, today, domestic production of fish products is the fourth in terms of productivity and efficiency worldwide.

It will not be superfluous to note that a year earlier, Russian fishermen managed to "harvest" from five million tons of various aquatic biological resources. And I must say that for the Russian Federation such an indicator was a record, if we take into account the statistics of the last twenty-five years.

Today, according to the head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, fishing is rightfully considered one of the priority areas of the country's agro-industrial complex and has a strategic status in ensuring the food security of the state.
