The petition of the Free State of Bavaria (Landag) has been received by the Parliament of the Federal State, signed by more than 1 million residents, which obliges us to take it into consideration. .
Environmental groups initiating the petition are calling for a ban on the destruction of hedges and trees by farmers; the creation of an untouched five-meter strip of land on the banks of rivers and streams, and by 2030 in Bavaria to make a third of the federal agricultural land organic.
Under the laws of the Federal Land, Landag must either accept a petition or offer voters a choice of alternatives, but then they will have to organize a local referendum.
The petition can have a significant impact on the federal state agriculture. If adopted, the use of pastures and hayfields as arable land will be prohibited. And so that insects can eat wild flowers, until June 15 of each year, a tenth of all meadows can not be mowed.
The aim pursued by the initiators of the petition is to protect bees and others that are on the verge of extinction of insects completely dependent on people.
It should be noted that the history of Bavaria knows several cases when the goals set in the petitions were achieved. This is the abolition in 1997 of the upper house of Landag Bavaria and in 2010 the introduction of a ban on smoking in public catering establishments.
