In the process of breeding poultry, farmers often encounter infectious or viral diseases of birds. For prevention and treatment, special medicines are used, the dosage and method of application of which depend on the type and age of the bird. The article describes the use of therapeutic and prophylactic means "Baykoks" for chickens.
General characteristics and description of the drug
The tool is used to get rid of a disease such as coccidiosis. It can be used to treat the disease in all types of poultry, including the adult and young generation.
Did you know? Among domestic birds, hens stand out for their intelligence and sharp eyesight, they can remember the distinctive features of about a hundred people, and in addition, some individuals are able to distinguish geometric shapes and count.
"Baykoks" can be used independently and in conjunction with other therapeutic agents and multivitamin complexes. It does not inhibit the immune system and contributes to the destruction of coccidia, which allows you to save the life of a large number of bird stocks. It is used for treatment and prophylaxis. Bycox is a colorless, odorless liquid.
Active substance, release form and effect on the body
The effect is based on the properties of such a substance as toltlazuril, which is capable of exerting a quick and effective effect on a large number of eimeria. Antiparasitic properties are active at all stages of development.
The “Baykoks” is produced by the German pharmaceutical company “Vaueg AG” in 2 forms, with different concentrations of the active substance:
- 2.5% - used primarily for farm birds;
- 5% - for the treatment of large animals.
“Baykoks” 2.5% is produced:
- in a plastic container of 1 liter;
- in glass ampoules with a volume of 1 ml;
- in bottles of 10 ml.
Moreover, in 1 ml of liquid - 25 mg of the active substance. When toltlazuril enters the avian organism, it accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract, where the coccidia bacteria are located. The substance acts on parasites at the level of intracellular development, which prevents them from multiplying and kills them.
Indications for use
Use "Baykoks" to combat coccidiosis, since this disease can destroy a significant part of the population.
It appears as follows:
- inhibition of the bird;
- “Freezing” in one place;
- shaky gait;

Which may fall into the house:
- with soil;
- during cleaning with inventory;
- with bedding material.
Instructions for use of the drug for chickens
In a preventive dosage, the drug is prescribed in the analysis of the concentration of coccidia in the litter of the chicken coop and an indicator of 10-20 thousand / g. In a therapeutic dosage, the use is indicated for the manifestation of the symptoms described above. The drug is diluted with water in the following proportion - 1 ml of water “Baykoks” per 1 liter of water - dose for 2 days.
Wherein:
- for every kg of bird weight, you need to take 7 mg of the drug;
- when preparing a large dose, the calculation is as follows: per 100 kg of weight - 28 ml of liquid.
Recommendations for use may vary depending on the type of poultry and its age. Chickens are given a solution with a medicinal product 2 times a day for 2 days, and then they maintain a five-day break, after which, if necessary, repeat the course of treatment.
Important! Not recommended «Baykoks» layers, since the active substance accumulates in the eggs. If it is necessary to treat birds, during the treatment period their eggs should not be eaten, as they can provoke intoxication in humans.
There are two treatment options for broiler chickens. The first is the same as described above, the second involves an increase in the concentration of the solution to 3 ml per 1 liter of water and evaporation of this liquid for 2 days but 8 hours a day. It is worth noting that these birds rarely become infected with a bacterial infection, due to more stringent sanitary conditions.
