The value of exports of agricultural products of the European Union has been increasing for four years in a row and in January of this year reached a new record of 11 billion 200 million euros.
The largest growth in monthly export values (January 2019 compared with January 2018) was recorded in the United States (growth of € 191 million), China (growth of € 91 million), Switzerland (growth of € 39 million), Philippines and Russia (both increased by € 29 million).
In contrast, export sales declined the most to Hong Kong (€ 44 million), Turkey (€ 29 million), Angola (€ 26 million), Saudi Arabia (€ 24 million) and Jordan (€ 23 million decrease) )By sector, the largest export growth was achieved in liquors and liquors, wine and milk powders, respectively, having increased by € 81 million, € 68 million and € 58 million. As for food imports, it also rose to a record 10.8 billion €.
The value of agri-food products imported by the European Union has grown the most for products coming from the United States (up to € 291 million) and Ukraine (an increase of € 246 million). Imports from Brazil (a decrease of € 145 million), Indonesia (a decrease of € 97 million) and Malaysia (a decrease of € 68 million euro) showed the largest declines.
