Rezatec, an analytical company providing satellite image and geospatial data services, today launched Grass SAT, a new innovative grass management service.
The essence of the service is the daily provision to dairy farmers of automatic updates of the state of grass cover in the pens, as well as the provision of other functions to optimize management decisions throughout the year.
Grass SAT is an online grass management service for dairy farmers that optimizes rotation grazing on their farms. Using a comprehensive grass growth model based on regular analytics from satellite imagery, farmers receive daily grass cover updates on their pens.
Metrics are visualized on a secure portal, sorting the grass of pens for grazing from the highest to the lowest, and also sorting valuable information to support decision-making, such as determining the number of grazing days per pen, and “give” a color map of the farm indicating volumes and distribution of availability herbs.
The service is very easy to use and allows farmers to first draw their pens on a digital map and add herd information before they are presented with their measurements of wedge and daily grass cover.
Farmers then update the portal using paddock operations such as grazing or shearing, and they contribute to the model and reevaluate grass cover analytics.
