On the basis of Tomsk Polytechnic University, the leading specialists of the university have developed a unique mechanism.

This is a robot endowed with the ability to exterminate the Colorado potato beetle on farmland with potatoes.

It is known that this robot is a self-propelled cart equipped with a video camera lens and a computerized system based on one board. The processor of the robot assumes an algorithm that implements technical "vision". In addition, the beetle exterminator has the ability to shake off plants and spray them with disinfectants.

As soon as the “smart fighter” leaves the field, the lens of his camera recognizes insects on the bushes or their larvae and either sprayes a special herbicide compound on the pests or shakes off the beetles from plants.

At the moment, as part of the experimental work in the fields, the robot operates from a rechargeable battery. However, the creators of the smart machine intend to provide the model, which will be produced on an industrial scale, with an engine running on combustible materials.

The “parents” of the Siberian robot assure: as soon as their brainchild is introduced into the daily work of farmers, the cultivation of potatoes will go to a whole new level. After all, the fight against bugs on potato bushes will be aimed and eliminate the need to completely spray the plants with aggressive herbicides of toxic and chemical origin.
