The 14th festival “Salt-Iletsky watermelon”, which has already become traditional, was held in the city of Sol-Iletsk, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture said.

Festival guests competed in speed eating berries at the competition "Watermelon glutton". The festival also presented many other contests that amused everyone present.
The acting governor of the Orenburg region Denis Pasler made a solemn speech, noting the great contribution of melon growers to the development of the agricultural complex of the region.
The achievements of the best farmers were noted by letters of gratitude from the governor of the local city district. This year, the Cup "For success in the development of melon farming" went to the farmers of the Grigorievsky territorial department.
The festival ended late in the evening. The festival guests were entertained by local musical ensembles and singers. For information, over the past twenty years, the area of commodity melons in the Orenburg region has increased by more than a dozen times.
In 2019, gourds were grown on an area of 46.3 thousand ha in the Orenburg region.
