Market analysts are sounding the alarm: from the shelves of Altai supermarkets and from market shelves in the very near future such a hot commodity as buckwheat may disappear.
For a long time, residents of the region may have to say goodbye to buckwheat in their diet for the simple reason that there is an acute shortage of raw materials for this product in the region.
Large Altai companies, the main task of which is buckwheat processing, are experiencing deplorable times of grain shortage. It is possible that in the next few weeks the release of buckwheat in the Altai Territory will be suspended indefinitely. In many respects, the shortage of buckwheat raw materials in the region was also influenced by the fact that recently suppliers from processing enterprises have offered a purchase price for raw materials lower than the established one. Faced with this fact, Altai grain growers began to sell buckwheat grain to a foreign market - to Japan and the People's Republic of China, where purchasers offer more generous payment.
As a result, today, taking into account the fact that enterprises have reduced the production of buckwheat by almost 80%, the Altai Territory is on the verge of a serious shortage and disruption of buckwheat supplies to the shelves of outlets.
