A dangerous pest of agricultural lands almost entered the territory of the Omsk region.
This is a plant such as creeping mustard. In the Russian Federation, this culture is positioned as a quarantine object.
Such information was shared by employees of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in the Omsk Region. The department also noted that the mustard could get into the ecosystem of the region along with a melon party that arrived from Astrakhan.
Gorchak creeping
It is known that the pest was perfectly masked by straw, which was laid in the van of a truck with watermelons. Fortunately, representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor on time spotted a malicious plant in the litter for Astrakhan watermelons, and promptly sent over a half ton of straw to a recycling site. Thus, the penetration of dangerous weed into the territory of the Omsk region, as well as its spread, was stopped.
It is also important to add that fighting creeping mustard is not an easy task. This can be confirmed by those farmers who faced the attack of this hard-to-eradicate perennial weed and lost their crops.
Note that mustard is toxic, therefore, livestock do not eat it. Because of this "special status", the plant is widespread and encroaches on agricultural crops. Gorchak steals all useful elements from the soil and leaves no chance for useful crops to develop.
