Sweet potato is becoming increasingly popular among the population and farmers of Ukraine, analysts of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPRA) share information.

Recently, culture has been included in the official reports of the statistical service. this figure was only 20 tons. Sweet potato producers explain this situation with constantly growing consumer demand both in the external and domestic markets of Ukraine. And the culture itself is easy to grow and has a consistently high yield in all regions of the country.

The culture shows the most generous crops in the southern regions, the northern regions are slightly inferior in terms of the gross yield of sweet potatoes.The population of Ukraine liked the potato so much that some people even stopped buying ordinary potatoes. As the production of sweet potatoes grows, the price of it continues to fall, which makes the product even more popular, according to the report of the chief analyst of the UPOA Tatyana Smirnova. The popularity of sweet potatoes is growing not only in Ukraine, but throughout the world. In 2017, European countries consumed 300 thousand tons of product per year. Every year, the number of purchased sweet potatoes in Europe is increasing. This means that Ukrainian producers of sweet potato can safely display their products on the world market. But for now, the volume of its cultivation in Ukraine is insufficient for the formation of large export lots, the analyst notes.
